An American Apparel store in New York has placed pubic hair on their mannequins in their latest shock tactic.

American Apparel has become known for their attention-grabbing stunts, including "awkwardly pornographic" posters and provocative images.

The brand's latest stunt involved placing a substantial amount of pubic hair on their mannequins, causing New York shoppers to stop in their tracks.

This isn't the first time the brand has played with the societal taboo of body hair. One of their most recent posters featured 'Eva', a model who was lifting her arms to reveal underarm stubble.

Pubic hair has been a part of poster campaigns for the brand before, including one involving the naked porn star Sascha Grey, who was photographed covering part of herself with her hands.

Previous poster campaigns have portrayed young, makeup-free women very scantily-dressed. From one young girl completely bottomless to another dressed only in a lace bodysuit from head to toe, the private parts of his models are always to the forefront of the brand conversation.

One ad, featuring a girl wearing nothing but cable socks, proclaimed "Safe to say, she loves her socks!". The poster featured several inset images which appeared to show the naked model mid-orgasm.

Another ad featured a naked woman with her legs spread to the camera, spared her blushes by nothing but a strategically placed brand logo.

Perhaps the most disturbing is an ad for underwear, featuring a young woman wearing nothing but a pair of underpants, lying on a man and licking the split seam of his boxers.

The number of "borderline pornographic" images is so high, Buzzfeed created a 'The 28 Raciest American Apparel Ads Ever' article. **Warning - NSFW (Not Safe for Work) and images may offend.

Many have condemned the images, while some see the images as "satirical" and we "should not take them too seriously". The images could be compared to the style of Terry Richardson, who has shocked in the past with his images of Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus.
