How does your dog smell? Not as well as as Toby the Australian Shepherd, we're guessing.

Toby was born with two noses - "and it doesn't bother him at all," say his owners. "As a matter of fact, it appears to come in handy when he is searching for his old chewed up ball!"

He's an affectionate dog who "loves hugs and playing catch," and, despite his unusual appearance, has a very happy life with his owner Todd Ray, a successful music producer and founder of the Venice Beach Freakshow.

"I call him Toby-One Kenobi, but also Toby Two-Nose - that sounds like a gangster name," Todd told the Huffington Post.

Toby is two years old, and has been with Todd since he adopted him from an animal shelter a year ago after Toby was abandoned by his previous owners.

"He was picked up by the dog catcher," said Ray. "I heard about him and contacted them and they said it was almost at the end of his time. They were going to put him down."

Todd, who's worked with artists including Mick Jagger, Cyprus Hill, the Beastie Boys and Jack Johnson, opened the Venice Beach Freakshow in 2006.

He told Fly News: "I’m fascinated by weird animals’ beautiful differences and by the magical lessons that they teach us."

"The uniqueness of their forms show us that normal doesn’t exist."

"The sad thing is that, at this time, people are at a place where they will let a two-nosed dog get put down before they will adopt him – only because he looks different."
