A petition to change the name of the Australian currency to 'Dollarydoos' has gained almost 10,000 signatures online.
The petition is calling for the name change as "something to stimulate the Australian economy".
"This will make millions of people around the world want to get their hands on some Australian currency due to the real life Simpsons reference, driving up the value of the Australian currency".
"If the leaders of this great nation have any common sense at all, they will introduce legislation to parliament to change the name of our currency as soon as possible".
The petition has racked up 10,000 supporters on Change.org.
For anyone that is not a Simpsons fan, 'dollarydoos' is a reference to an episode in which Bart was forced to apologise for prank-calling Australia after he reversed-charged a $900 prank call to an Australian family. (Clip below).
