X Factor and Eurovision stars John and Edward Grimes were flying from London to Gothenburg in Sweden when the incident happened.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, Edward said, "John had his hair pulled.  It felt like being back in school with a bunch of bulliers.

"It got so heated the air hostess had to announce that the police would be waiting when the plane touched down if the row didn't stop.

"One of our fans managed to force the gang out of the seats they took beside us, but it was a very frightening situation."

They called on UFC figher Conor McGregor to arm them with some skills.

"Conor is somebody who could help.  Go on the Irish. We're going to give him a call," they said.

McGregor's coach John Kavanagh responded to the news on Twitter by inviting the duo to swing by his gym.

"There is nothing I hate more than bullies. Drop into @SBG_Ireland @planetjedward http://tinyurl.com/zjydkux  but please....no singing! :)" he wrote.
