Irish man can't make childhood friend's wedding - writes and sings heartfelt song instead
When James McGrath couldn't make it to a a dear friend's wedding, he did the next best thing.
The singer-songwriter was devastated when he couldn't make Rebecca Downing's wedding, which is taking place tomorrow.
The Northern Ireland native knew that she was a big fan of the Ron Pope classic A Drop In The Ocean, so he decided to make a very special version for Rebecca.
In only one hour, the self-taught musician had the revamped version penned and performed, before publishing it online.
The song went down a treat after he posted it on his Facebook page earlier today. The bride-to-be admitted it brought a tear to her eye.
"Standing in Rushmere crying," she wrote.
"I couldn't listen to it all, so emotional, but I will do when I get home."
Naturally James is delighted with the good response.
"People seem to enjoy the song and think that it's a special wedding gift for the newlywed," he said.
"Music is my escape. There is no better feeling than connecting with people through music."
