Temperatures are set to top 30C in parts of the country today thanks to this warm blast of continental air that has come our way.
A yellow weather warning has been in place since 10am today and will remain in effect until 8pm.
The Irish are getting to grips with this surprise heatwave, and hashtags like #scorchio and #hottestdayoftheyear are now top of Twitter’s trending list.
"I've checked with my granny and yes, temperatures have officially reached FIERCE WARM ALTOGETHER," said one Twitter user.
