Limerick has left Dublin lagging in sales of a new range of sex toys.

Discount chain Dealz said yesterday it had flogged 6,500 in only two months since deciding to spice up its shelves in September.

Bosses reported the highest demand for its Nooky brand in County Limerick followed by the Dublin area. Dealz also confirmed that two of the capital's suburbs, Blanchardstown and Clondalkin, were among the hot-spots for the adult range, which also includes Viagra-like pills for men, love rings (below) and lubricants.

Sales in the store's core family planning range also rose by 2,000 nationwide on the previous month.

"We've been thrilled by the demand for the new range across Dealz in Ireland," said trading controller Chris Burns. "We are currently delivering hundreds of extra products to stores who've sold out. Due to Nooky's success, we're already looking at ways we can extend the range to bring more cheap thrills to the Irish public."

Dealz, a source for items ranging from cut-price baked beans to light bulbs, now has 'sauce' to add to its 1,000 brands across 60 stores.

The price has slumped too, to around that of a chocolate bar.
