The biggest internet mystery tonight - did Ronan O'Gara make his flight home following Twitter appeal to Aer Lingus?
Former Irish rugby star Ronan O’Gara had a more-than-stressful evening as he rushed to make a flight home from Paris... and documented the whole process on Twitter.
The Racing Metro coach took to the social media network to ask Aer Lingus to hold the flight for him as he raced against the clock to make his journey home.
“On my way to CDG for the 9.50 to Dublin,” he wrote online, “Hold it please. No luggage. What time is last check-in?”
The airline responded to the rugby star, saying check-in would close at 9.05pm French-time and added that they hoped he would make it on time.
“Will be there 9.15 at the latest. Do you have a number I can call please?,” Ronan wrote back after ten minutes.
The airline apologised but said they were unable to hold flights.
A seemingly-frantic Ronan scribbled back; “Not holding... just tell them I’m three minutes away.”
Ronan’s race to the flight sparked an interest from fans online as they tweeted the former Munster player, writing; “G’wan ROG, you can make it [sic].”
Others were eager to find out how the evening’s events would conclude, asking him to let them know if he made the flight.
“Go ROG go, hold that flight, let us know if ya make it [sic],” another wrote.
The father-of-five is a regular on the Paris-Dublin route since he moved to the French capital with his wife Jessica last summer.
After a lengthy silence from Ronan’s Twitter account, fans were relieved to hear that the Munster man had made his flight.
"22 Mins deep into additional time the win was achieved !!!!ALLEZ.. Thanks for all the support throughout!! Means alot! [sic]," he wrote.
