An ad has been posted to GumTree looking for a "companion/wife wanted for one year living on Inishfree Island".
"Inspired by the film Castaway", the ad implies that the intent is to then publish a book on the experience.
The poster includes some of the available amenties on the island to tempt any possible candidates, including "the previous resident even had internet apparently!"
The ad requests that applicants email a picture and details of themselves when applying.
GumTree has been in the media a lot recently with ads going up on the site selling a car described as "Japanese rice-rocket... designed by Zeus and skillfully handcrafted in the Land of the Rising Sun" and other comedic posts.
Humour aside, following on from the death of Elaine O' Hara, the gardai are warning users to be careful and avoid meeting people they've met online. Read our guide to staying safe online here.
