50,000 Irish fans set to see Michael Buble takes up residency at the O2 arena
The crooner is in town for an incredible five-night residency, while his supermodel wife Luisana Lopilato prepares for birth of their first child.
Grammy-winning singer Michael Buble will take to the stage of the O2 tonight for an unheardof five night residency at the Dublin venue. Cities like Las Vegas may be those more accustomed to residencies by superstars, but due to Buble's affinity for Ireland and incredible fanbase here, he will be making an Irish exception for the next five nights.
While he focuses on work, his supermodel wife Luisana Lopilato is in her third trimester of pregnancy, which Michael says has been "great" so far. He has even changed his touring schedule to accommodate her labour, in order to be as hands-on as possible.
“I’ve changed my touring schedule so it’s no longer a month-and-a-half and then a week off," he explained. “Now it’s three weeks on and two weeks off.
“I can’t wait to be a hands-on dad when the baby arrives.”
While it's no secret among his Irish fans that we hold a special palce in the Candian crooner's heart, he has confirmed his love for Ireland.
“There are a few places where I have a great connection with the people, but not quite like this," he added. “When you’re accepted like this it’s hard not to love the country back. I think I’ve always liked it here because it’s similar to Canada – you have a very dry sense of humour, it seems like people get me here.
“I can say things in Ireland and you guys find it funny because you understand my brand of humour, whereas in America sometimes they do not get it.”
