Wood sales surge as demand in UK rises

COILLTE has said exports of wood surged almost 40-fold in the past year following strong demand from the UK and a decline in the number of overseas competitors.
Exports of sawn wood products from Irish sawmills jumped to 200,000 cubic metres this year from 5,000 cubic metres last year.
Heinz staff to stage two more walkouts
WORKERS at food giant Heinz are to stage two more strikes in the UK in their dispute over pay. Unite said around 1,200 of its members at the firm's site in Wigan will stage a 24-hour walkout from 6am tomorrow and again before the end of the month.
African Diamonds joins new entity
AFRICAN Diamonds, a Dublin-based company listed on London's AIM ceased to exist yesterday, after a court agreed to plans to fold the company into a company called Lucara and create companies called Botswana Diamonds and Stellar Diamonds.
Circle Oil flows Egyptian well
LIMERICK-based Circle Oil said it began extracting oil from a well in Egypt. The Al Ola-1X well is producing about 1,400 barrels a day but production will increase once water levels rise.
