Stephen Hemsley, CEO of health insurers UnitedHealth Group (which has an operation in Letterkenny), is certainly proof that your health is his wealth. With a salary of €70m last year, Hemsley is the best paid boss in the US, according to Forbes.
Although the salary of Walt Disney boss Robert Iger is about half that of Hemsley, Forbes has ranked him the third best paid boss in the US. Iger earns about €37m a year.
The American fashion designer, Ralph Lauren, earns a salary of about €30m a year -- making him the sixth best paid US boss.
Well-roasted coffee beans have also done well for Starbucks boss Howard D Schulz, who earns about €20.5m a year, according to Forbes.
McDonald's American boss, James Skinner, earns about €14m a year, while Carol Bartz, who heads up Yahoo, earned about €10.5m last year.
Intel boss Paul Otellini is way down the Forbes ranking of best-paid American bosses. With a salary of about €5m, Otellini is the 196th best paid boss in the US.
In Britain, Bob Diamond, the head of Barclays, is one of the country's best paid bankers. Diamond earned about €7.6m last year.
One of the best paid businessmen in France is Bernard Arnault, the chairman and chief executive of LVMH, which owns the Louis Vuitton and other luxury brands. Arnault earned a salary of about €4m last year.
