Rise in consumer confidence in US

US consumer confidence rose to its highest level in more than four years this month while business spending increased in October as companies invested more in durable goods despite anxieties about the economic recovery.

The Conference Board, an industry group, said its index of consumer attitudes towards the economy rose to 73.7 in November, its highest since February 2008, from an upwardly revised 73.1 in October. Economists had expected a level of 72.8.
