O'Brien joins board of world broadband agency

Businessman Denis O'Brien has been appointed to the Broadband Commission for Digital Development, an international body chaired by Mexican telecoms giant Carlos Slim.
Mr Slim is one of Latin America's largest mobile phone and broadband providers, and Denis O'Brien's mobile phone company Digicel is the other large mobile operator in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Broadband Commission for Digital Development believes that high-speed, high-capacity broadband connections to the internet are an essential element in modern society, with wide economic and social benefits.
Its mission is to promote the adoption of broadband-friendly practice and policies so that the entire world can take advantage of the benefits broadband can offer.
