New York gets the chance to say 'Oh this? Penneys' as fashion store hits Staten Island

Fashion retailer Primark hits New York City with the opening of its seventh US store, just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

The budget brand, which trades as Penneys in Ireland, officially launched a store at the Staten Island Mall in Staten Island on Thursday.

Offering the usual vast array of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, homeware, and beauty products, the new store encompasses 55,100 square feet of retail space with 41 fitting rooms.

Customers will also have access to free Wifi and two “recharge” seating areas while they shop.

Primark operates over 330 stores in eleven countries: the UK, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, France, Italy and the US; and has over 69,000 employees.

Its first US store opened in September 2015 - and there are plans to launch in three further US locations - South Shore Plaza (Braintree, Massachusetts), American Dream (East Rutherford, New Jersey) and Kings Plaza (Brooklyn, New York).
