Murdoch agrees to sell off Sky News

RUPERT Murdoch has agreed to sell off the loss-making Sky News. The move is likely to be enough to win government approval for the takeover of BSkyB by his News Corp firm, according to reports.

Boeing focuses on successor to 737 jet

BOEING, shifting focus on its next new aircraft, is leaning toward developing a successor to its best-selling 737 single-aisle jet before making improvements to the wide-body 777. A new plane probably would be wider than the 737 and seat about 150 to 220 people, said Mike Bair, who leads the team formed to study the concept. Once it enters service, as soon as 2019, Boeing could put new engines and wings on the 777, he said.

'X Factor' helps ITV make £286m profit

ITV posted an 11-fold increase in profits to £286m (€336m) and said it planned to restore its dividend. The broadcaster benefitted from the success of the likes of 'The X Factor' and 'Britain's Got Talent', which helped boost advertising income.
