IMF’s European chief resigns
THE INTERNATIONAL Monetary Fund’s European chief has resigned.
Antonio Borges cited personal reasons for his decision and he will relinquish his responsibilities immediately.
He has headed up the IMF’s European programme for a year and covered some of the financial crisis as well as the debt crisis we are now experiencing.
IMF chief executive Christine Lagarde said she will appoint Reza Moghadam to succeed him.
Mr Moghadam is currently director of the IMF’s policy, strategy and review department.
