Goldman directors reap fees of €9.5m
Peter Sutherland (above) and the eight other directors of Goldman Sachs International shared €9.5m in fees last year, or an average of just over €1m each. This was almost double the €5.2m they shared a year earlier as markets crashed.
The highest-paid director bagged €2.78m from the investment bank. Last year, pre-tax profits fell to €3.9bn or about €124 a second.
Goldman's 4,977 staff earned an average of about €890,000 last year, fuelled by the massive bonus culture at the bank.
