Enda Kenny praises Italian crisis efforts under Monti
TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has praised the efforts of the Italian government under Mario Monti in its bid to resolve its economic problems.
Mr Kenny was speaking in Italy as he met Mr Monti in advance of a summit of all 27 EU leaders next week.
"I want to express my support. He has managed to increase Italy's reputation again in this very short period," he said.
"This is the first official meeting between an Irish Prime Minister and an Italian one since 2004 and our countries have strong cultural and economic ties,"
Both countries would like to see the current bailout fund being increased beyond its €440bn but Germany is reluctant to back such a move.
