THE owner of the 'Daily Mail' is in talks to sell its UK regional newspapers business.
Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), the London-based company that owns the 'Irish Daily Mail' and the 'Mail on Sunday' yesterday confirmed talks on a possible sale of its Northcliffe Media unit.
"In response to media speculation, DMGT confirms that it is currently in talks regarding the future of Northcliffe Media.
''No deal or transaction has been agreed, but if these talks move to the point where agreement is reached, an announcement will be made to the market," it said in a statement.
It had been reported that the company was in talks with media executive David Montgomery about a potential £100m (€77m) offer for Northcliffe, which owns 85 regional titles.
