Football star Cristiano Ronaldo will put up €37m for a €75m investment in four boutique hotels with Portuguese hotel company Pestana, Bloomberg reported.

It's his biggest ever investment and the hotels will open next year.

Ronaldo told reporters that the deal is the biggest project of his life and that the goal is to provide for his future and that of his son.

"Obviously this is a completely different world. My world is playing soccer but we all know that life won’t always be like this," he said.

The first two hotels will open on the Portuguese island of Madeira - where Ronaldo was born - and in Lisbon next year, with the third and fourth opening in Madrid and New York in 2017.

Pestana is Portugal's biggest hotel operator.
