All US bets are off for Intrade
InTrade, a Dublin-based website which allows spectators to bet on everything from entertainment to elections, said it will no longer accept US customers because of what it called "legal and regulatory pressures".
The company, which has more than 100,000 registered users and handles hundreds of millions of dollars in trades annually, said US regulators are suing the exchange for allegedly allowing unauthorised trading by US customers. Those customers have been told close their accounts by the end of the year. Lucan-based Intrade was founded by John Delaney who died last year at the age of 42 after coming within 50 metres of the summit of Mount Everest.
