Vincent Browne buys back right to publish Magill Magazine - 40 years after it first launched
Broadcaster and journalist Vincent Browne has bought back the right to publish Magill Magazine.
Browne has completed a deal with Ian Hyland, the publisher of Business & Finance Magazine, who bought the magazine in the early 2000s.
Magill has not been published for some years but Browne said he is aiming to do a ‘Best Of’ edition in the Autumn, followed by a series of one-off specials.
He founded Magill in the 1970s.
Some of Ireland’s most high-profile writers have worked for the magazine, including Sunday Independent columnist Gene Kerrigan, European Ombudsman Emily O’Reilly and author Colm Toibin.
Browne said he hopes Magill will appear in both print and online form.
He did not disclose the price he paid for the magazine.
