From confectionery to sports and biscuits, FBD's new man has seen it all over the last 25 years. Jim Ryan's worked for Mars, Adidas, Jacobs, Eircom and Ulster Bank and now faces his latest challenge at the insurer.
FBD announced that Ryan is to join the firm as the chief commercial officer (CCO) of its insurance arm.
Ryan, pictured, is leaving his post as branch banking managing director at Ulster Bank where he oversaw 1,300 employees across 110 branches.
The Trinity graduate will join FBD on May 9 where he will be responsible for the firm's 33 Irish branches.
FBD boss Fiona Muldoon said the firm is delighted to have Ryan's sales leadership skills on board. That's understandable for a man as he has spent time as head of sales at Adidas Ireland, head of field sales at Irish Biscuits, and was a sales director at Eircom before joining Ulster Bank.
Ryan is the second major appointment by FBD over the last month. The company recently hired John O'Grady as its chief financial officer.
O'Grady is joining from Liberty Insurance in July, filling the void left by the current chief executive. O'Grady will also join as an executive director. Last week FBD issued an update saying it is on track for recovery despite a hardening of the market.
