Prepare for plenty of cringing sporting metaphors, because the stars of GAA, rugby and cycling are taking to the stage to advise business chiefs across the island. Organised by Dublin Chamber of Commerce, Momentum Summit is a one-day business conference in the Aviva Stadium next Friday.

One of the sessions will see sporting stars, including Dublin footballer Bernard Brogan, former Kilkenny hurler Henry Shefflin, former Ireland rugby captain Fiona Coughlan and professional cyclist Nicholas Roche, sharing their thoughts on "how individuals can achieve a competitive advantage in their chosen field". Other speakers will include Formula One marketing expert Mark Gallagher, Joe.ie founder Niall McGarry and entrepreneur and former O'Brien's chief Brody Sweeney.

The event will also include a number of break-out 'masterclass' sessions and workshops.

Attendees will get expert advice on topics including brand design and marketing, online lead generation, sales techniques, financing for growth, procurement, export support, internationalising your business, online payments, SME technologies, business planning, conflict management, human resources and organisational development.

That's a heavy schedule. They'd better not take their eye off the ball.
