Ad hero Kelly becomes data tsar

Congratulations to Sean Kelly, MEP for Ireland South, on his appointment as lead negotiator on data protection for the European Parliament's Industry committee.
As such, Mr Kelly will represent the EU's only directly elected institution during negotiations between the Parliament, the EU Council (governments) and the Commission over the next few months.
Big business will also be happy: Kelly is the previous recipient of a 2013 "public policy" award from the advertising industry.
New legal eagles appointed
A raft of new partners have been appointed at legal giant Mason Hayes & Curran. The law firm announced yesterday that 10 new partners had been appointed in the firm's key practice areas. The new partner appointments bring the total number of partners to 77.
The firm now employs 420 staff, based in three offices in Dublin's "Silicon Docks", New York and London.
The firm has been involved in a number of recent deals, including representing Dragon Oil on the cash offer by Emirates National Oil Company, representing Credit Suisse and Goodbody Stockbrokers on the Cairn Homes IPO and representing PTSB in its de-leveraging transactions involving loans with a face value of €1.5bn.
Managing partner Declan Black said the new partners are experienced in their fields. "We put a premium on consistently providing our clients with excellent, relevant advice and doing so quickly and clearly," Black said. "Our new partners will continue that approach."
