Summit to woo women with free tickets
The Web Summit has announced a new initiative entitled 'Commitment to change', by offering free tickets for their four conferences to 10,000 women in 2016. Announcing the news on the Web Summit blog, Sinead Murphy, director of live events, wrote that she is "acutely aware that female participation in the tech sector has been and continues to be a significant issue".
In an effort to "even the gender ratio" at the Web Summit's four events - Web Summit, SURGE, Collision and RISE - she said organisers will be "giving 10,000 complimentary tickets to our events to women in the tech industry across the world".
"We hope that it will, in some small way, contribute to solving the problem."
Business people are asked to nominate "incredible female entrepreneurs" to receive a free ticket.
