I regularly use mobile broadband as a way to work or browse on tablets or laptops. Partially, this is laziness: it often seems too finickity to find and connect to a wifi network, even when one is available.
Price: from €10 with a monthly contract
The quick option is always to switch on your phone's tethering feature to connect whatever your separate device is to the internet.
However, this is only really a makeshift solution for one device – it starts to get messy, slow and insecure when you try it with more than one gadget.
This is where products such as communal mobile wifi dongles come in. High-end ones such as Vodafone's R208 model allow you to connect up to 10 devices at a time. It is also optimised to get you the best, fastest, signal available.
You'll need a separate sim card with a monthly plan to use it. Also, it won't connect to Vodafone's 4G network, when that goes live in a few weeks. Nevertheless, this is a very handy gadget to have for business people on the move.
