Nintendo is finally releasing a bunch of SNES games on the virtual console for the 3DS and they're celebrating with a makeover

The SNES was an important gaming milestone in the life of many a young guy and girl. As one of the earliest home consoles (for people of a certain vintage) it took pride of place under TVs around the world, offering up classic games which are just never quite as good if you ever go back to them.

We can't quite transport you back to the glory days of the 90s but you can bring a touch of nostalgia to a newer console with this rather ravishing 3DS XL in the colours of the SNES.

This model will likely only launch in Japan (shame) but does come at the same time as the annoucement of some SNES titles coming to the virtual console on the 3DS. The first wave of games is out now and includes Super Mario World, F-Zero and Pilotwings, with the likes of Earthbound, Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Super Mario Kart and A Link to the Past due over the next few months.

The word is that these virtual console titles will be exclusive to the latest version of the 3DS, which launched in early 2015.
