Jonathan Blow, the creator of Braid, is back with a new game called The Witness - and my word but its full of puzzles

Jonathan Blow made a big splash with his first game, the indie blockbuster Braid, and has been spending the time since crafting his next potential masterwork - The Witness.

The game takes you to a mysterious island full of puzzles. They start out simple but slowly increase in complexity, drawing you closer to the centre of the island, and the secrets that await you there. The art style is gorgeous and the bigger budget has given Blow plenty of new toys to play with, including a console debut on PS4.

The guys at Giant Bomb have taken the time to show off the opening section of the game, with a first time player navigating the first few puzzles. You can see how they ramp up even in this short sessions.

It's good to hear that there's more going on as the game progresses, it would get pretty dull just walking around and playing with those puzzle panels for hours at a time. Blow has said that the game contains dozens of hours of gameplay and that there are puzzles which he expects no one will ever solve. That sounds like a challenge, and it won't be long before players are going toe to toe to find a solution.

The Witness is coming to PS4 and PC on the 26th of January 2016.
