Thinner Apple Watch 2 expected in June

Apple is expected to unveil a new version of the Apple Watch, which is tipped to be 40% thinner than the original model.

A new, thinner Apple Watch is expected to be announced at Apple’s WWDC in June.

It’s believed that the new model will be around 40% thinner than the current iteration, according to Apple analyst Brian White. It’s also tipped to feature a FaceTime video camera and expanded WiFi capabilities.

In November, a Chinese report indicated that Taiwan-based supplier Quanta Computer was developing the Apple Watch 2 with a late-second-quarter launch in mind. Volume shipments, it said, will begin in the third quarter of the year. Meanwhile, Macrumours’ sources point to a September 2016 release.

White also claims that iPhone 7 production will get underway in July. One of his sources says that only the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will feature the touted dual camera system, which falls in line with KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions.

Stay tuned for more news from the Apple camp this summer.
