System Shock 3 nabs Warren Spector
Legendary game designer Warren Spector has come back into the fold to assist in the development of the long awaited System Shock 3
It's still hard to get our heads around the fact that a third System Shock game is in the works, with a new team at Otherside Entertainment. And now there's even more excitement as none other than Warren Spector has joined the team.
You may not know the name but he's one of the most influential video game designers and producers in the history of the business, with a career stretching back to the late 80s. He worked at Origin on the Ultima series and Wing Commander, was general manager the awesome Looking Glass Studios during the creation of Thief the Dark Project and moved to Ion Storm for the first two Deux Ex games. Most recently, he was the director of Epic Mickey and its sequel at Disney.
And way, way, way back in 1994, he helped to lead the team for the original System Shock - creating one of the most complex first person RPGs ever and launching a franchise which would spawn a sequel and capture the attention of millions of fans around the world. More than 20 years later, he's set to become one of the directors on System Shock 3 by joining the Otherside team full time.
That's all ridiculously exciting, and work has been ongoing on the project for at least the last six months. There's no word on a release date just yet - and that could take a long while - but we're hoping for more news soon.
