Star Wars the Force Awakens comes to Zen Pinball
Star Wars The Force Awakens has pretty much taken over the world at this stage, and now it's also going to be a pinball game
I'm not sure I've ever been witness to a PR and marketing blitz like the recent push for Star Wars the Force Awakens. It's staggering to imagine how much money has been spent on getting the movie on everything from shampoo to licensed toys, and everything in between. And that in addition to pushing out conventional advertising for the actual feature film currently routing all comers at the box office.
In this noise, the one aspect which has been sidelined somewhat is the videogame side. Now there have been several digital properties released in a canny fashion, including Star Wars Battlefront and some mobile title but no adaptation of the movie itself or officially named title. That's about to change... kind of.
Zen Studios will be releasing two new tales for their long running Zen Pinball series which will tie directly into The Force Awakens. They're coming out January 12th and feature artwork and assets which have been ripped straight from J.J. Abrams film.
You'll interact with the major characters from the film and visit a range of locations through the 12 story modes. The first table focusses on the Resistance while you'll also get to play around with The First Order where you'll work with Kylo Ren to take down the goodies. For some reason.
It looks like a fun way to get some casual Star Wars kicks, and another avenue for Disney and Lucasfilm (as well as Zen) to rake in more cash.
The new Star Wars Pinball additions will arrive on the 12th of January for a fiver. On mobile each table will cost two quid.
