Sony's dual-lens cameras coming to major smartphones
Sony's dual-lens camera tech will be utilised by a number of the major players in the smartphone market, according to CFO Kenichiro Yoshida.
Sony's dual-lens camera tech will be making its way to major smartphones in the coming 12 months.
CFO Kenichiro Yoshida said that the tech will be used by "major players" in the near future. He didn't name any names, but it's possible that Apple could be one to embrace the dual-lens approach.
Yoshida said that smartphones with dual-lens cameras will be big by 2017. If Apple jumps on this trend, it would certainly help it gain a foothold, while Samsung's Galaxy S7 may also feature a dual-lens camera.
Sony's sensors have already appeared in the likes of the Moto X, G4 and Galaxy S6. If Yoshida's comments are accurate, you can expect many more smartphones to join that list in the year ahead.
