Sony has revealed how much the PlayStation VR headset will cost, when it will be available to purchase, and what comes in the box.
Sony has finally filled in the blanks surrounding the PlayStation VR headset, revealing its price and release date.
The PlayStation VR will be released in October and will retail for €399.99. This is later than expected, but a post on the PlayStation Blog explained that this is a "transformative experience in gaming, and we wanted to take the time needed to launch with a broad variety of content and a sufficient supply of hardware."
At Game Developers Conference, it was announced that 230 developers are creating content for PlayStation VR. Sony says that it expects to have 50 games available from launch in October until the end of the year.
Playroom VR, from Sony's Japanese studio, will be available as a free download from the PlayStation Store. It includes six games that will be playable with others, which Sony says will demonstrate how "virtual reality can also be an impactful experience when it’s shared." The PlayStation VR will also come with a demo disc featuring playable experiences from some of the launch line-up.
One thing to note is that you'll need the PlayStation Camera, which isn't included in the retail bundle, so you may need to take that into account when budgeting. Sony did reveal what you do get in the box though.
