The social sharing app Snapchat has just introduced what they're calling Chat 2.0 which will change how you use the app forever
Snapchat has just introduced Chat 2.0, and it's kind of a big deal.
It's all about connecting with your friends inside the app, and includes the ability to send messages (which was always a part of Snapchat) but now you can also tap a button to instantly start a regular voice or video call. It's intended to make communicating extremely easy, and to extend the idea of those Snapchat messages into something more immediate.
So now if you've got something cool to show your friends on Snapchat, you can just start a live video call and get their reactions in real time. Live calling is a big change for an app that started out as a way to send self destructing photos to other users, and one that was initially all but written off as a way for young folks to send out pictures that they wouldn't want anyone else to be able to see.
Just four years on from launch, Snapchat already has over 100 million users and a huge amount of daily engagement with its video content. And with new features like these it's pretty clear the folks behind the scenes have a big vision for this app in the future, putting it at the centre of how you communicate with friends.
The update for Snapchat is rolling out on iOS and Android now.
