The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a flagship phone in every way possible, and that includes featuring the best smartphone camera around
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is out and it is every inch the premium phone - from it's gorgeous outer design and high quality screen to the latest tech specs inside. And it's also top of the heap in another important area - camera quality.
The latest Galaxy flagship phone features a 12 megapixel sensor which may sound like a downgrade from the 16 MP shooter in the Galaxy S6 range. But the reality is far more complex, and a number of new features have actually helped to make it an even better camera. In fact, it has been rated as the best smartphone camera around, by the experts at DXO Mark.
Using a barrage of sophisticated tests, the DXO folks have given the Galaxy S7 a rating of 88, making it officially the best you can buy today, and narrowly beating out its own predecessor the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Sony Xperia X5.
In testing, the phone has been praised for its consistent exposure in a range of conditions, especially high contrast scenes. The 12 megapixel sensor and f1.7 lens help the module to perform brilliantly in low light, something which all cameras struggle with. The S7 has also been praised for it's video performance, with low light results and image stabilisation among the best around. It's also very quick to focus, which is ideal if you're after skittish subjects like small children or animals.
If you're a photo fan and in the market for a new smartphone, it seems pretty clear that the Galaxy S7 is well worth checking out. And this also helps to banish the myth that a lower megapixel count has any bearing on image quality. Read the full DXO report here.
