Like Facebook, PlayStation has split off its Messaging app from its main app, letting you chat with friends from a standalone app.

When you tap the Messages tab in the PlayStation app, it launches PlayStation Messages. This app shows you who’s online, giving you a clearer picture of who you can interrupt while they’re playing!

The original PlayStation app has also been updated. Users can now follow verified accounts and keep tabs on their activities. So now you can keep up to date with what some of your favourite personas are playing and how their trophy completion progress is going.

PlayStation Messaging Features:

  • Check your Friends List to instantly see who's online and what they're playing
  • Send text or voice messages as well as photos and stickers to your friends or a group with up to 100 players
  • Quickly access your favourite message groups from your favourites list
