The Sony PlayStation 4.5 sounds like its going to be a real thing, and it could launch much sooner than expected and before the end of the year
It's only been a few short days since the first whispers started about the PlayStation 4.5. This was presumed to be a newer version of the console that could handle higher quality graphics and push out more pixels, as well as giving virtual reality a boost through the PlayStation VR headset. Well now it seems like it's the real deal, and it could be coming quite soon.
The latest news from the Wall Street Journal suggests that PlayStation 4.5 will be announced fully before the launch of the PlayStation VR. That would tend to suggest a major reveal at E3 in June 2016. Some are even suggesting that there might be a mega bundle in the works to include the newer console and also the virtual reality system. It's going to be an expensive Christmas if that does come to pass.
Details on the PS 4.5 are hazy at best but most seem to agree that it will be capable of producing graphics at 4K resolution. That puts it in line with the current TV quality buzzword which is important when it comes to appearing to be ahead of the pack. It might be capable of better, or at least smoother VR, and that's about all we know at this point. The WSJ report does suggest that games would work on both platforms without having to buy a new version, so that's good news for consumers.
Expect more information by the summer time, and a potentially confusing future for PlayStation hardware.
