The Sony Playstation 4 has finally been hacked - looks like it will be easier than ever to get your fill of gaming
The PlayStation 4 has been hacked!
This exploit has been long in the works, with the hardware already more than two years old. Hacking group failOverflow has managed to dive deep into Sony's architecture to uncover it's secrets, and in the process they got a version of Linux working on the attractive black box.
This is early days for the hack, it doesn't sound like you're going to be burning and mounting pirated copies of games any time soon as they can't yet harness enough juice to really make them playable. But it is a first step and the tools being created by failOverflow will bring inspiration to other modders who just really, really want to be able to do things with their PS4 which Sony didn't intend.
Here's a video with the Linux OS working on the PS4.
That's pretty technical, but some folks will find it very exciting indeed.
