Ratchet and Clank has just been remastered and re-released and the results are pretty astounding - check them out
Classic platformer Ratchet & Clank first appeared on the PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2002. It was a gorgeous and highly entertaining game back then, but just wait until you see how it looks now.
Developers Insomniac Games have gone back to the original title and taken it all into the next generation for a new version on PlayStation 4. Every element of the graphics have been improved and the gameplay has even been tweaked to include elements from later games in the series and a whole bunch of new areas and challenges.
It's basically a new game, but one that pays homage to the older title and also neatly ties in with the big screen movie outing that's coming along at the end of April 2016. Eurogamer had a look at how this new version compares to the 2002 original and the more recent remaster on PS3, and it's pretty amazing to behold.
The reviews for the game have been glowing so far, and frequently reference how the game basically looks like a CG movie come to life. We'd be inclined to agree based on this footage, and it's massively impressive that professionally created CG sequences from the upcoming movie can sit alongside in game graphics and they both compliment eachother.
This new version of Ratchet & Clank is sure to appeal to fans of the older game and will likely pick up plenty of newcomers when it launches on the 22nd of April. The movie is out on the 29th of the month.
