Nintendo NX dated - Zelda delayed
Nintendo has finally confirmed a rough release date for its next major console, and also pushed back an upcoming title
Nintendo has been teasing a new console release for quite a while now, with talk of a potentially 4K ready NX on the way later in 2016. Now they've made it official.
At a financial results briefing yesterday, Nintendo announced that the NX will arrive in March 2017. We won't get to see it at E3, which is a bit of a surprise, with all of the attention reserved for the upcoming new game in the Zelda series.
There's also news on Zelda, with the release pushed back to coincide with the arrival of the NX. So the game will now be a launch title for the new console and will also get a simultaneous release on the Wii U in March 2017.
It's not surprising that Nintendo would want to launch new hardware with a familiar franchise, and it remains to be seen how different the two versions of the title will be. All eyes will be on the company as specs for the NX are revealed and they move into a new generation of hardware. And who knows - by then we might even already have a new PlayStation and we'll certainly have seen the launch of the PlayStation VR.
More as we get it.
