After ten years in the wilderness, Planet Earth is coming back later this year. The upcoming series will utilise drones and will air in 4K.

BBC has confirmed that there will be a new series of Planet Earth and Sir David Attenborough will return.

Planet Earth II will utilise aerial drones and the latest in camera stabilisation technology. This may give us a closer look at nature and wildlife. A plus point for the BBC is that it should also reduce costs.

The original Planet Earth series was the most expensive show that the BBC had ever commissioned when it aired in 2006. Drones will be more budget friendly than helicopters and other vehicles at least.

The upcoming series will in UHD 4K. Those who have invested in a 4K display early will be pleased to show it off in all its glory. Planet Earth was a visual treat, so we can’t wait to see Planet Earth II in 4K.

Planet Earth II will be aired later this year and will include locations such as jungles, cities, deserts, mountains, islands and grasslands.
