DJI has revealed some new features of its upcoming Phantom 4 drone and it looks like its getting some serious smarts
DJI is one of the big names in drones right now, with models that combine high end specs with (relatively) affordable prices. Their latest drone is the Phantom 4 and the company has been talking up some of its new features.
One big one is the addition of advanced ostacle avoidance with two front facing cameras able to track incoming threats and figure out a way around which won't cause harm to your expensive piece of kit. You'll also now be able to select an object - a person, animal, even a car - in the view on your smartphone and the drone will do its best to follow no matter where it goes. That seems like a great way to get some epic footage of a run or walk in some gorgeous scenery.
The battery is bigger for a full 28 minutes of flying time, even when it's loaded up with an additional camera and the new model is capable of flying at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, which is pretty impressive.
It sounds like there's going to be a lot to like in the new DJI Phantom 4 and it's ready for pre-orders today on the official site - pricing is $1399.
