A fan remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, titled Shadow Moses, is being developed in Unreal Engine 4, and it looks quite impressive indeed.
Metal Gear Solid fan Airam Hernandez is working on a project called Shadow Moses; it’s essentially an unofficial remake of the original Metal Gear Solid utilising the power of Unreal Engine 4. The first trailer for Shadow Moses has been released and it shows us that it’s coming along nicely.
The game looks great, featuring some impressive environments and weather effects, and it captures the essence of the original too. It even features a box that you can crawl around in.
How long will this project last until Konami clamps down on it? A post on Facebook posted a question to its fans that hints that this won’t happen.
“Just need to clarify something. I think I have said this before, but whatever...Here's the thing: Some people are saying things like ‘Oh hey, why are you sharing the project already? Why don't you wait until it's already finished??’ Ok guys, let me explain it shortly: Konami owns the MGS copyright, so sooner or later we will need THEIR permission! Do you really think that it's smarter putting a lot of work for years on it, and once we publish the final product, get a lawsuit? Don't you think that is way better have their permission from the very beginning? Come on guys, think about it,” Hernandez wrote.
More footage is coming. The Shadow Moses Facebook page hints that the second one will have more content, while the trailer indicates that Shadow Moses is coming soon.
