Long War mod team to make mods for XCOM 2
The team behind the Long War mod for XCOM: Enemy Unknown will build officially sanctioned mods for XCOM 2 that will release alongside the game.
Firaxis Games has announced a partnership with the team behind XCOM: Enemy Unknown's Long War mod, and the newly formed Long War studio, that will see it creating official mods for the upcoming XCOM 2.
Announced on the official XCOM blog, Firaxis says that Long War Studios is "currently hard at work on multiple mods for XCOM 2." XCOM 2 will have a greater focus on mods and mod support, something senior producer Garth DeAngelis told Eurogamer should have happened a long time ago.
"We should have done this on Enemy Unknown, and we want to give the community more tools to make things like the Long War, or whatever you want to do. We want to see more of that. We think it's the ultimate relationship with our fans and our community, and we can't wait to see what they come up with," he explained. As a result, a range of official tools will be available with the game.
What Long War Studios has planned is yet to be revealed, but fan expectations are high. More will be revealed soon, but the mods will launch alongside the game on February 5th.
Meanwhile, Long War Studios recently announced a crowdfunding campaign for its debut title, Terra Invicta.
