LG announced that the upcoming G5 will feature an always-on display, making it very easy to check the time or other notifications without waking the phone.
LG G5 owners won't need to wake their screen when checking for the time, date, or other notifications because the screen will always be on.
LG posted on Facebook that the G5's display keeps important info like the time, date, and up to four notification icons visible, even when the screen is off. It seems like it will do so without lighting up the entire screen, so it won't burn through battery life either.
This wouldn't be LG's first foray into an always-on display. The smartphone manufacturer previously included a thin always-on second display at the top of the LG V10.
LG has dabbled with making it more convenient to check the time in the past too. The LG G4 featured Glance View, which was a pull-down menu that let you check such info without turning on the screen, while the Moto Display allowed the Moto X Pure and Moto X Play to light up when they sensed your presence.
Expect to hear more about the LG G5 at Mobile World Congress.
