Amazon has confirmed the existence of their latest e-reader with the Kindle Oasis promising huge battery life and a new look

Amazon has been talking about their new Kindle for a while now, and an early leak suggested some of its noteworthy features, but now the final product is here - check out the Kindle Oasis!

It's definitely a Kindle - that is a lightweight e-reader - but it's also the biggest design shakeup we've seen since the keyboard was done away with in 2011, thanks to that new bump on the back end. That's all about making this the most comfortable Kindle ever, with a perfectly balanced place to hold onto the device and turn the pages, all in a single hand.

The design is certainly eye catching and it's not the only thing that's impressive about the Oasis. It's the thinnest and lightest Kindle yet, and boasts a brighter screen than even the high end Voyage. It also comes bundled with a really gorgeous leather case that provides protection and also a secondary battery. Amazon says that with the case attached you can expect an astonishing 20 months of standby time.

The Oasis is definitely being positioned more as a fashion item, complete with a unique look at a choice of impeccably designed leather covers in merlot, black and walnut. And it doesn't hurt that the hardware underneath should make reading a book on an e-ink display very comfortable indeed, alongside never having to worry about battery life again.

One thing you will have to worry about is the price. The Kindle Oasis is listed at £270, which is close to €350. That puts it way out on top as the most expensive Kindle available and far from affordable for most book lovers, especially when you consider that users will also have to buy everything they want to read. It also seems like the existing hardware is already of very high quality, making it even harder to justify upgrading.

We'll have to wait and see how this launch pans out, with the Oasis set to be released through Amazon on the 27th of April 2016.
