iPhone 7 may feature wireless charging
Apple is working on wireless charging technology that would allow future iPhones to be charged without relying on charging pads.
While its competitors are embracing wireless charging technology, Apple is yet to join in on the action. But that may soon change.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg's report says that Apple is adding wireless charging technology to the iPhone. It's hoped that it will be ready for the iPhone 7.
Apple's approach would allow iPhones to be charged from further away than current wireless charging mats.
The company has expressed its disdain for charging mats in the past. In 2012, Apple Senior VP Phil Schiller said that charging mats don't offer any more convenience.
"Having to create another device you have to plug into the wall is actually, for most situations, more complicated," he said.
Apple is expected to host an event in March. Perhaps we'll hear more then.
