HTC Vive will cost a massive €899 in Ireland
The HTC Vive is set to go up for pre orders today and if you want to get it in Ireland prepare to pay a serious premium
The HTC Vive is one of the most promising virtual reality headset around, with cutting edge tech and applications that show off the future of the format. And you're going to have to pay dearly for the chance to play with it.
The system will be ready to pre-order on the 29th of February 2016 and international pricing has just been released. While it will cost $799 in the USA, the price from Ireland is an utterly massive €899. And that doesn't seem to include sales tax or shipping, so it's likely to be well over €1000 by the time you get it to your door.
Consider the fact that you'll also need a very fast computer to run the system, with components that could cost as much as €1500 and virtual reality is looking more and more out of reach of most punters. The Oculus Rift headset already received a lot of negative press for its pricing - which comes to €700 and closer to €800 after taxes, charges and delivery.
One thing is certain, virtual reality isn't for everyone at this price. You can order the Vive here.
